Buy Box Competition on Alpha Repricer

Buy Box Competition:

You can choose to compete with sellers with the lowest price, or the sellers with the Buy Box. The settings in this section are for Buy Box competition. These are not active if disabled, if item is out of stock, if the Buy Box is suppressed for the listing or if you are not eligible for the Buy Box. When active, Buy Box Competition takes precedence, and the settings in Price Competition are ignored. Price Competition is the default competition when Buy Box Competition is not active.
Buy Box competition has four options listed below:

  1. Disable
  2. Set my price relative to Buy Box
  3. Classic Buy Box Strategy
  4.  Buy Box Hunter

1. Disable:

When Buy Box Competition is disabled the repricer switches to Price Competition.

2. Set my price relative to Buy Box:

You are competing specifically with Buy Box, but you may want to compete differently according to the competitor type.

 

  • Depending on the competitor’s type, you can choose to take the following actions:
  1. Beat by: Set your price below the Buy Box price by the specified amount, percentage, or both.
  2. Match: Set your price equal to the Buy Box price.
  3. Price higher by: Set your price above the Buy Box price by the specified amount, percentage, or both.

For example, You are the FBA seller so when you are competing with another FBA Buy Box winner you may want to decrease the price. But when the other seller is MFN you may want to increase the price.

  • If Buy Box winner:

You can configure after winning action from the “If a Buy Box winner” section. There you will find the following options:

  •  No Action: Do not change your price.
  • Compete with next Buy Box eligible seller (without letting price decrease):Continue competition by increasing your price as per next Buy Box eligible seller. If the final price is higher than your current, the price will be changed else ignored.You can configure Beat by, Price higher by, Match or Ignore on each competitor type. 

 

  • When there is no competition and you are the only seller :Top of Form

 

There might be a condition when no competitor remains or you are selling the product which is only sold by you. In both cases, you will be the only seller under that ASIN. 

For this situation, you can configure system to set your prices accordingly. Below settings will be found in “When there is no competition and you are the only seller” section.

  • No Action: Do not change your price.
  • Use Minimum: Use the item’s minimum price. Optionally add a fixed amount or a percentage of the Total Minimum.
  • Use Maximum: Use the item’s maximum price. Optionally subtract a fixed amount or a percentage of the Total Maximum.
  • Average of Minimum and Maximum: Use the average of the item’s minimum and maximum prices. Optionally add or subtract a fixed amount or a percentage of the Total Average.
  •  Increase my price: Increase my price by the fixed amount or percentage of Total Price.

Note: If you selected No action in “If a Buy Box winner” section then above configuration (No competition) will be ignored automatically.

3. Classic Buy Box Strategy:

 You are competing specifically with Buy Box by decreasing your price by a fixed amount or percentage to win Buy Box. This will apply to all competitors type.

 

. Decrease my price by: 

  • By fixed amount ($): System will decrease your price by that amount
  •  By percentage (%): Selecting this option will ask you to select the base amount i.e. percentage of Buy Box, percentage of Total Price or percentage of Minimum Price.
    Let suppose you selected percentage of Buy Box, then system first calculates according to the percentage of current Buy Box winner and then decrease your price by that amount.

Example: 
Your price is $10.00 and your competitor’s price is $9.00
You selected to decrease price by 5% of Total Price.

Total price – (Total price x 5%) = Repriced amount.
$10.00 – (0.5) = $9.50

 

  • If Buy Box winner:


You can configure after winning action from the “If a Buy Box winner” section. There you will find the following options:

  • No Action: Do not change your price. 
  • Compete with next Buy Box eligible seller (without letting price decrease):

4. Buy Box Hunter

 Alpha Repricer’s Buy Box Hunter uses an innovative algorithm to win the Buy Box and then hunts for the highest price at which the Buy Box can be retained. It then adjusts the price up or down as competitive prices change.

  • Buy Box Hunter have two options:

     1. Exclusive Buy Box
     2.Exclusive or Shared Buy Box
  • When there is no competition and you are the only seller :

    There might be a condition when no competitor remains or you are selling the product which is only sold by you. In both cases, you will be the only seller under that ASIN. 

For this situation, you can configure system to set your prices accordingly. Below settings will be found in “When there is no competition and you are the only seller” section.

  • Increase my price: Increase my price by the fixed amount or percentage of Total Price.

 

Competition below minimum settings

While competing for the Buy Box the price at which you can win may be below your minimum price. Enabling this feature will instruct the Buy Box Hunter to raise your price for a duration. This may coax the competition to raise their price making it possible for you to win the Buy Box until the competitor drops their price again. Note that the Buy Box Hunter will only raise the price if it has a known price at which you can win otherwise the price will not be raised.
